The System Design Tool project is the culmination of my work as a PhD. The tool is an optimization algorithm which determines the optimal arrangement and converter set for a single input multiple output power distribution system. A full description of the problem and initial brute force algorithm can be found in this 2018 Control and Modeling of Power Electronics conference paper presented at the University of Padua. A forthcoming journal paper presents additional details and insights, and a paper on a more computationally efficient algorithm is planned for summer 2021.
The pictures above show a prototype for a test system with 6 outputs as well as the system evaluation board which was implemented with a custom 8-channel electronic load.
